History Deuteronomy is both a recap of God's instructions and a review of the history of the people of Israel.  Moses gives three distinct separate speaches to the Hebrews in this book.  In chapters 1-4 he speaks of Israel's history.  In chapters 4-26 Moses presents a speach to the people in which he recaps the stipulations for God's covenant with them.  In his third abd final speach, Moses reviews the blessings the Hebrews will have if they are obedient to the covenant and the curses which will be the consequence of failing to be obedient as well has his final exhortation.  The book ends with the transfer of leadership from Moses to Joshua.                                                     The primary objective is to equip the people of Israel to be obdient to God's word.  It is absolutely impossible to simply claim Christianity and be obedient to God's word.  If we are going to be successful, we too MUST equip ourselves.
