Job - Summary

Title:	The book of Job is neamed for the primary character of the story.
Author:	The author of Job is unknown.  It does appear that whoever the author is, they are familiar with the Hebrew religion.
Date:	Since there are no reportable historic al events by which to make a timeline comparison, it is impossible to pinpoint a specific date.  Some have suggested this may have been at the end of the exile sometime around 530 BC but there is no evedence to support this.
Main Theme	The primary theme of Job is maintaining faith in the sovereign God.  In spite of your circumstances, in spite of the sufferings that humans face, God can be gtrusted.  God is good.  God is just.  We need to remain faithful in times of trouble and we weill be able to see God lead us through those toughest of times.  God needs to be praised in our hardships and not cursed.
Location:	The story of Job takes place in the land of Uz.  It is not known for sure where the land of Uz is.  Lamentations makes reference to the daughters of Edom and the land of Uz.  The land of Edom was south of Israel and east of Egypt.
History	There is no real historical purpose of this story.  There is no historical reference as to where or when to place this story.  The story of Job is for the purpose of encouraging followers of God to remain faithful and obedient in spite of how things may be (or not be) going in their lives.
