Lament # 1. Great
sorrow in Jerusalem due to the destruction of the city and especially
the destruction of the Temple and the city walls. Have there been times in your life when,
because of His great love for you, God has punished you due to your own failure
to be faithful to what God has called you to?
What was this situation and how did God’s reaction to your action change
your life to the positive?
Lament #2. God
gets angry with unrepentant sin.
Is there currently sin in your life you need to repent of in order to
allow God to work in your life? What is
it? What do you need to do in order to
submit to God’s authority and to be obedient to His call?
Lament #3. There
is great HOPE in the Lord’s faithfulness. We know we can experience the Joy that only
comes from God’s faithfulness in that He promises us to be restored to Him and
we can have a deep personal relationship with Him. What obstacles might there be in your life
that are keeping you from experiencing the joy He wants you to have?
Lament
4. God’s
anger can be satisfied. Jeremiah
was writing of the sin of Israel/Judah under the old covenant. The sin had to be paid for in order for the
people to be restored. We are now under
a new covenant. What had God done in
order for our punishment to be paid and make it possible for us to be restored
into a strong, deep and personal relationship with Him as our Lord?
Lament
#5. Jeremiah
Prayed for the restoration of Judah. One
of the most important things God has called us to is obedience in Intercessory
Prayer. What can we do in this area to
help in the restoration of those who need Jesus as the Lord and Savior of their
lives?
