1.
When have you felt that God was ‘calling’ you to do
something for Him/His Kingdom?
2.
God called Ezekiel to proclaim the truth. God has called US to proclaim the truth. There were some fears Ezekiel had to face as
he prepared to follow through with what God had called him to do. Wat fears do you/we face as you/we prepare to
follow through with what God has called you/us to do?
3.
God turned His face away from the people of Israel for
many reasons but the sin He seemed to hate the most was idolatry of false
gods. What are things that our culture
seems to idolize that could cause God to turn His face from us?
4.
There were times when God used His people to punish
non-believers. But God’s anger was
unleashed when His own people turned from Him, failed to remember what He had
done for them, followed false gods and did not live up to the precepts He had
given them Taking this to mind, how might we see this truth being lived out in
the church today?
5.
One of the things we have learned about the people of
Israel is they didn’t really think God’s judgment was imminent. What is the problem we face when we don’t
necessarily think God is actually going to bring his judgment upon a
disobedient people?
6.
We know how horrendous the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah
were. The people of Israel seemed to
think they weren’t as bad as Sodom, yet Ezekiel told them the sins of Israel
were even worse. Sometimes we have a
tendency to look at the sins of others as worse than our own sins. What is the potential problem for us taking
this attitude? What might we need to do
to get away from bearing this attitude ourselves
7.
We know our blessings come from God. Why is it that when once we receive those
blessings, we seem to sometimes forget where they came from? Why do we feel we no longer need God once we
think we have what we want from Him?
8.
What correlation
do you see between the morals of those who have influence over us the morals we
live out. What do we need to do to make
sure we are feeding our mind and soul with ‘food’ that is spiritually
nourishing, not depleting? See
Colossians 3:1
9.
Social manners (how people treat one another) go a long
way in demonstrating the morals of the civilization. What do our ‘social manners’ tell you about
how the U.S. is as a civilization?
10. If
Ezekiel were to preach to OUR country today, what would he say?
11. What
is the relationship between your faith as a child of God and the manner in
which you live your life in obedience?
12. Ezekiel
promises there will be worship in the new Temple. Under the New Covenant, our body is the
temple. How is our body to be an
instrument of worship?
