1.
Hosea married a prostitute, Gomer, because God wanted
him to display to the people of Israel just how He felt about Israel’s
relationship to Him. Why do you think
God uses ‘action sermons’ or ‘object lessons to teach His people?
2.
Gomer and Rahab are both women with similar
backgrounds. They each responded to God
differently. What does the way we
respond to God have to do with how we may be used to serve Him?
3.
God used Gomer as the example He did to help the people
of Israel recognize their sin. The
people did not seem to be ready to make the change they needed to make. What are things we sometimes are not ready to
change in order to have the relationship with God that He wants to have with
us?
4.
Why is it difficult for us to admit our sins? What happens when we do not confess our sin
and choose to not turn from it, or even admit we have sin?
5.
Hosea mentions that there had been an increase in law
suits. How can an increase in law suits
indicate an increase of sin? How does
that play in to our culture/society today?
6.
The message of Hosea is that we reap what we sow. What are you reaping now from what you have
sown in the past? What do you hope to
reap in the future? What are you sowing
now in order to reap what you want?
7.
In what ways have you received the blessings of God but
have failed to give God the proper thanks; having taken God for granted?
8.
The apathy towards God led the people in to sin. How do we show apathy in our relationship
with God? What can we do to fix it?
9.
True repentance requires more than just saying the
right words. What else is important to
demonstrate true repentance? Why?
