1. The book of Numbers is one of order. The people of Israel are to stand up and be
counted. They are organized into tribe,
clans and families. Why is ‘Order’
necessary in the Kingdom of God?
2. The
Hebrew men of age for battle are counted.
God is preparing them for battle as they also prepare to move in to the
land of Canaan. How are worship and war
similar?
3. God,
through Moses, goes into a lot of detail describing the offerings of the twelve
tribes of articles needed for the Tabernacle and its accessories. What significance do you see in such a
detailed description?
4. What
special offering can I bring before the Lord?
5. Sometimes
like Miriam, Aaron, Korah we can become prideful and even competitive in our
service to the church. Sometimes we also
can feel inadequate or insignificant as servants. What can I learn from these people on how to
be obedient to serving God faithfully?
6. God
leads the Hebrew people through the dessert.
The move when the pillar moves.
They stay when the pillar stays. How
do I know where and when to go in my service to God?
7. The
people of Israel become ‘comfortable’ when at Mt. Sinai. When God told them it was time to move, He
was met with resistance. What areas in
your life have you become ‘comfortable’ in?
8. Why
or how can being ‘comfortable’ or ‘complacent’ become an enemy of spiritual
growth?
9. In
what ways did the people of Israel show they doubted God’s Word? In what ways do you/we sometimes act as if we
doubt God’s Word?
10. What
was the purpose of wearing tassels? What
can we do today to accomplish the same thing?
11. The
Hebrew people were warned about ‘approaching’ God in the wrong way. Is it possible for us to ‘approach’ God in
the wrong way? If so, how?
12. Looking
at the bronze snake enabled those who were sick to be healed? How did Jesus use this event in His teaching?
