1. Elimelech
and Naomi chose to leave their problems in Bethlehem and flee to start over in
another place. The only problem was that
they encountered different problems there.
When in your life have you made a decision to leave your problems behind
only to face different ones?
2. After
leaving Bethlehem, losing her husband, losing both of her sons, how did Naomi
react to her life situation? Have you
ever found yourself in a life situation where you reacted the same way as
Naomi? What was the result?
3. As
a Christian, what can happen to us when we concentrate more on ourselves and
our problems rather than on God?
4. As
a Christian, when we commit our lives to the Lord, and focus on God rather than
on our problems, what happens to us?
5. As
we see in the life of Ruth and Naomi, when someone trusts the Lord and obeys
His will a situation can change from defeat to victory. What example of this can you see in your own
life or in the life of others you know?
6. What
does it mean to be ‘redeemed’?
7. I
what way does Boaz, as Ruth’s Kinsman Redeemer, a picture of Christ?
8. Ruth
had to ‘prepare’ herself before she presented herself to Boaz, her Kinsman
Redeemer, on the threshing room floor.
If she had not prepared herself properly her mission would not have
turned out the same. What do we need to
do to properly enter the presence of God rather than go clothed in our own
righteousness?
9. What
does the book of Ruth teach you about deepening your own relationship with God?
