Life Application - Psalms

1.      Based upon the teaching of Psalm 1, what is the true measure of ‘success’?  How successful would you say you are?  What changes do you need to make in order to be successful in the words of this Psalm?

2.      Psalm 42 1-2, “As the pants for streams of water, so I pant for you O God.  I thirst for God the living God, When can I go and stand before him?”  What does it mean to you to “Pant” for God?

3.      Read Psalm 51:1-10.

A.     How is sin first and foremost an assault on God?

B.      What would be your response to the excuse that we’re just human and therefore cant help but sin? 

C.     Do you think the church is becoming more tolerant of sexual sins?  Yes? No?  Why?

D.    Do you agree or disagree that Christians must sow a few wild oats so they can better understand non-Christians?  So they can better understand grace?

4.      Psalm 119 begins Joyful are people of integrity who follow the instructions of the Lord.”  What is the importance of the role God’s word is in the life of a follower of Christ?

5.      As Psalm 119 tells us about how important it is for us to “Know God”, Psalm 139 tells us about how well God knows us?  What does the fact the God knows us so well tell us about how we need to act?

6.      Psalms 146, 147, 148, 149 and 150 all are psalms of worship and praise.  What do we learn from these psalms about how I need to worship?  What I am doing right?  What might I need to change in action or in attitude?

7.       In what ways do we tend to make worship about ourselves rather than about God?
