1. First
Chronicles begins with the Genealogies and history of Judah given to the people
to reaffirm their role in God’s redemptive plan. The people are assured of their restoration
as the people of God.
a. When have you been reassured of your own
restoration of your relationship with God?
b. How
did that restoration affect the way in which you feel your commitment to
obedience to God?
2. We
read of the fact that 1 of the 30 mighty warriors who gave their lives to
support David and lead his armies in to battle was Uriah the Hittite.
a. What is so significant about David’s sin to a
man so loyal to him?
b. Have
you ever betrayed a friendship in this manner? Have you ever been betrayed in this manner?
c. What
redemptive or restorative opportunity did you take advantage of to ‘fix’ that
relationship?
3. We
read about all the different roles and responsibilities of those serving in the
Temple. What services do / can / should
you perform in service to your church?
4. What
does the restoration of the people of Israel following the period of captivity
tell us about God’s willingness to not only forgive but to rebuild do to
encourage those of us who serve in the church?
